Our Founders
Founded by Dr. Alex Verissimo, DPT, PT, and Michael Verissimo, AllwonderBILITY™ is a heart-led, inclusive play and therapy space for children ages 0–8. Blending Dr. Alex’s extensive pediatric therapy experience with Michael’s passion for movement and purpose-driven leadership, the couple created a space where families and children can grow, connect, and thrive.

Dr. Alex Verissimo is a devoted pediatric physical therapist with a lifelong passion for helping children flourish. Inspired by her mother, a special education teacher, Alex’s commitment to inclusion and accessibility began early—as a teenager working as a camp counselor for children with disabilities at the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association.
She earned her degree in Community Health and Rehabilitation & Disability Studies from the University of Illinois, a nationally recognized leader in disability inclusion. During her time there, she volunteered extensively with DRES and Beckwith Hall, supporting students with a wide range of disabilities.
Alex went on to obtain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Rosalind Franklin University, training at esteemed institutions such as the Mayo Clinic and Shriners Children's Hospital. In 2011, she began her professional career at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, the nation’s #1 ranked rehabilitation hospital, before transitioning to outpatient pediatric therapy after relocating to Charleston, SC.
Throughout her career, Alex has served children with diverse developmental and neurological needs. She holds a special interest in gait training and is a certified DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) Level A practitioner. Alex believes strongly in an intensive model of therapy, or episodic care, and is eager to bring a unique therapy approach to the area—combining intensive gait training, DMI, and rebound therapy.
As a mother of three, Alex deeply understands both the clinical and emotional needs of families. Her personal and professional journey led to the creation of AllwonderBILITY™—a space where every child is seen, celebrated, and empowered.

Michael Verissimo, Co-Founder of AllwonderBILITY™, brings over 15 years of leadership experience in business development, analytics, and strategy. While he built a successful career leading growth and transformation initiatives, he always dreamed of working more directly with children—as a PE teacher or children’s gym instructor.
Now, as a devoted father of three, Michael channels that passion into creating a space where all children feel safe, celebrated, and empowered to grow. His role complements Alex’s clinical expertise, ensuring that ALLWONDERBILITY™ is not only joyful and inclusive but also operationally sound and community-centered.
Together, Alex and Michael founded AllwonderBILITY™ to create more than a therapy center or indoor play space.
They envisioned a joyful, inclusive community where children can grow, explore, and build meaningful friendships. Through a blend of evidence-based therapy, purposeful play, and values rooted in kindness, empathy, and inclusion, AllwonderBILITY™ is a home for joy, growth, and belonging—for every child, every family, every time. Their mission is simple: to create a place where all children are seen, valued, and embraced as wonderfully made image bearers of God.

AllWonderBILITY is for all wonderfully made kids! Whether your child has a diagnosis, is receiving therapy, or simply wants to play and grow in a welcoming space, we’re here for you.
Our open play, milestone movement classes, and birthday parties are open to all children—no diagnosis or referral needed.Therapy sessions are scheduled separately and provided by licensed professionals.

Wall-mounted sensory toys and busy boards at wheelchair-user height.
Tactile panels, calming sensory lights, mirrors, weighted vests, and noise-canceling headphones.
Grab bars and benches for balance, resting, and gross motor skill development.

Yes, we ask that children remove their shoes in the play areas to help maintain cleanliness and safety. Grip socks are required for play—you’re welcome to bring your own from home, or we have options available for purchase here.
Children who wear orthotics, AFOs, or use mobility devices are always welcome to wear the footwear and supports they need for comfort and safety.
